About Me
The Details:

The terms of my city business license limit shipment deliveries/pick-ups to
one visit per day.  I have chosen United Parcel Service (UPS) as my primary shipping service.  I would greatly prefer you to use UPS, and I thank you for doing so.  Alternatively, you may use the US Postal Service only if UPS is not reasonably available to you.

My shipping address is:

David Akins
5432 Oxford Dr.
Cypress, CA  90630
(this is a residence address)

Packaging Guidelines:

If you package your radio(s) by yourself, the packaging must conform to UPS's guidelines.  This is important because I will be returning your radio(s) in the same packaging in which you sent them.
(Hey, I'm a radio technician, not a shipping clerk!) Your packaging needs to be sturdy enough to survive the round trip.  See the UPS Packaging Guidelines for details.  If you're not sure that your packaging will meet UPS guidelines, please let your local UPS outlet package the radio(s) for you.  It's a few bucks well-spent.

Pre-Paid Return Shipping Label:

At the time you ship, you also need to purchase a UPS pre-paid return shipping label and enclose it with your radio(s).  This allows me to ship the programmed radio(s) back to you at your expense
(that's the deal) in the most efficient manner.  See UPS Returns - Print Return Label for details.  If you forget to enclose a pre-paid return shipping label, I'll have to hold your radio(s) until you do send one.  Don't forget insurance if your radio(s) are worth more than $100.00.

Shipment by US Postal Service:

If you must use the US Postal Service instead of UPS, please ensure that you package according to their standards and enclose a pre-paid return shipping label
(pretty much the same deal).  If you use any other carrier, your inbound or outbound shipment may be subject to delay.  I am only allowed one delivery per day to my location, and most days that's going to be the big brown truck (UPS).

Special Note for Handheld Radios:

You must send a fully-charged battery with your handheld radio(s).  Battery power is required for programming, and I cannot possibly keep one of every type battery for every handheld radio made.  Detach the battery from the radio before packing.  If you leave the battery on the radio and it is accidentally switched-on during shipping
(it happens), it will arrive here with a dead battery and cannot be programmed.  If this occurs, I can only send the radio back to you unprogrammed.  You will have to re-charge the battery and re-ship the radio for programming.  Please avoid this waste and delay.
